Just some news...

Abe Hiroshi is getting married!

Omg! What news! Abe Hiroshi (43) is engaged to a woman 15 years his junior. Congratulations. But for some reason it makes me kind of sad he's taken...not that I ever really wanted him for myself...but all the same...

Tetsu is geting married!

Tetsu (38) from L'arc en Ciel is also getting married to Sakai Ayana (22), a talent/model. Also, makes me a little sad...think I had a crush on him at one point...not marriage/stalker crush...but still. Oh, and he beat Abe, his chick is 16 years younger than him! Go Tetsu! おめでとう!Dude, that's younger than me, yo! Not by much...but still! I'm old...I'm going to go curl up in the corner, rock back and forth and die a little inside.

So much marriage.

And finally, they are making a ヤッターマン or "Yatterman" ( will someone tell me how they got yattERman out of yattAman?) movie...a live action movie...starring 櫻井翔 (Sakurai Sho) from 嵐 (Arashi)! For all of you who don't know what a Yatterman is, it is okay...it's about a hero who fights crime with a ball in a cup...that's right folks, a ball in a cup...You just toss the ball, catch it in the cup, dump it out of the cup, toss it, and catch it in the cup again. The ball is on a string and attached to the cup, so there's no worry if you don't catch the ball in the cup. And clean up is as easy as catching a ball, in a cup. So, why spend another day not catching a ball in a cup when you can be catching a ball-in-a-cup?...But, "Oh, no!" you say. "Aw, I missed the cup." Hey, but its okay...because there's a string attached to the cup!...Yeah...seriously...a hero who fights crime with a ball...in a cup...hot.
Here's Yatterman!

(^o^)/

Oh boy!

Yattaman sounds better....hmmph.

Who is Abe Hiroshi? Why should I know about him? and Kensu? I did enjoy the you-tube video...entertaining. Am I right in calling this stuff Anime? As you see, it is all very new to me and I'm not a fan so I will not sign up to chat at this time..I like the look of your site. Good color choices and clean and organized. I call this blog an 'esoteric' blog...kind of for true fans only, who really know what is going on with these characters.

I am kind of on the same page as Dave...this is a very new world to me and I am a bit confused. I am assuming that these are all celebrities in Japan...I think. It is awesome to learn about something new though! I need to explore further into your blog and figure out what kind of participation you are looking for...I also agree with Dave...I enjoy the overall look of your blog.

I like the focus of the post. Gossip is always good. I'm not into Japanese culture much so this is a good way for me to learn about other countries. I like it.

You've found a good niche for a blog. I'm not big on Japanese TV, I like Takashi Miike's movies though. I also like mochi balls. It's all about the mango. Anyway, I think that's about all I can really add to the discourse. That and I think Japan has far superior TV based on what I've seen.

Loving the gossip, I just wish I knew all the characters so that I could participate! I wonder if I can find some of these shows on my never ending On Demand channels? I'll have to check that out so I can educate myself and come back to gossip about it all with you!

I have no idea what is going on. I'm guessing you have to be into this already for it to make sense. Good stuff though. It was interesting from an outside perspectives. Pictures and videos are handy too.

It is interesting to see enthusiasm for pop culture from another country. Much like my original class blog was about Hollywood gossip, this seems like that idea for Japan. It looks like the videos you post are from shows that air on the Japanese TV channel(?) I have to admit I don't have much familiarity with this world, although it is fun to see it coming from another culture. I guess every country has their own sort of celebrity/media culture.

Hey,
Your blog is very cool. But, I'm sort of confused, not very familiar about the characters. I do like the video you uploaded. Keep up the great job, and try to describe the characters a bit more.

I like L'arc en Ciel's songs. Their song "Ready steady go" is the final song in the "Osu Tatake Ouendan!" and is really awesome, despite me not having any idea what they're saying. But it really fits with the climactic end of that game.

Plus, they do the opening music for the new Gundam show, Gundam 00. Unfortunately, their music is the only good thing about the show. The show itself sucks balls. Mochi balls, in fact! Ha!

Here's the music video of Daybreak's Bell if you haven't seen it. I think it's pretty cool.

And the opening from Gundam 00!

PS -- I'm still chuckling over how Marie called your blog "Super Monkey Balls" a few weeks back. Rofl! Marie's a gamer though, maybe she's a fan of the video game, Super Monkey Ball, and got confused :-P

This blog is dynamite! I love it! I really have no idea what's going on when it comes to Japanese pop-culture, but for me that's part of the fun. I think the layout of the blog really mimics what I've seen from Japanese TV in the past, and that's cool too. This is an incredible niche and I think you'll find a lot of readers who are hungry for a site like this. Good work having Japanese language on here too, since that's where a lot of your readers will be needing.

I'm curious about how you're able to follow Japanese TV. I watch their movies, like whatever I can find at Blockbuster or Hollywood. But yea, I love your site because of its freshness and I think it's pretty foreign to most of us (outside of Japan of course). But yea, I love Japanese culture. Their food is the best. Harajuku girls got that wicked style.

I'm a little confused by your site because I really don't know what is going on and what you'd like us to participate on, aside from the polls, but it looks great. I can tell you are really into this so it seems like the perfect blog for you. I also love mochi!

Jeez, how can you have a blog all about stuff I don't know about? Like, I don't know about this stuff off the top of my head, so why should I read and possibly learn about it? How inconsiderate! You should be doing a blog about news, or celebrities. God!
